Even though the gates opened at 6 p.m., many concertgoers arrived with a “5 o’clock somewhere” state of mind as the Mattie Kelly Cultural Arts Village was transformed into a tropical celebration on June 11. Marking the finale of its 30th anniversary Concerts in the Village season, the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation (MKAF) welcomed A1A: The Official Jimmy Buffett Tribute Band for an evening of beach anthems, island vibes, and laid-back fun. With food trucks, raffles, and plenty of Parrothead spirit, the event offered a fitting escape to paradise.
Opening with “Cheeseburger in Paradise” and “Margaritaville,” the band quickly had the crowd on its feet while beach balls drifted through the air. “A1A delivered the perfect ending to our 30th anniversary season,” said Demetrius Fuller, CEO and Artistic Director. “Seeing thousands of concertgoers singing along, dancing, and celebrating together was a fitting tribute to the community spirit that has defined Concerts in the Village for three decades.”
While the season ended on a high note, the evening also celebrated three decades of music, community, and shared experiences under the stars. As MKAF plans its 31st season, audiences can look forward to another year of memorable performances at the Dugas Pavilion in the heart of Destin.
