On August 9, The Alice hosted the Panhandle Animal Welfare Society’s Stars, Stripes and Second Chances Brunch.
Founded in 1976, PAWS’ mission is to provide resources, education, and programs needed to improve animal welfare. Featuring a gourmet brunch, a Mimosa and Bloody Mary Bar, music, and views of the bay, the sold-out event brought the community together in support of animals in need.
“The first annual Stars, Stripes and Second Chances Brunch has been such an incredible reminder of what can happen when our community comes together for animals in need. The funds raised today will go directly toward PAWS’ most critical needs, helping provide lifesaving medical care, food, shelter, and resources for the animals who depend on us every single day,” said Molly Schulz, Community Development Director. “Every ticket purchased, bid placed, raffle entered, and donation made represents a second chance for an animal who deserves one. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make our very first Second Chances Brunch possible and showed up to support our mission. This is only the beginning, and we are already looking forward to bringing our community together again for the second annual Second Chances Brunch next year.”
From the steady traffic crossing the bridge to a room filled with people slowing down for a worthy cause, the first Stars, Stripes and Second Chances Brunch proved that sometimes the best destination is the one where you pause, gather together, and give something back.
