Surfs Up! Premier paddleboard destination, GUSU Paddle and Surf, recently wrapped up their charity race series; earning money for the incredible Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF). The energy was high at Fort Walton Beach Yacht Club for the final race with free demos, games and fun for the whole family. Throughout the GUSU race series, they raised an astounding $6,000 through the sale of raffle tickets and a silent auction held at the last race. Eric Bird and Eric Olins were the two lucky winners, taking home GUSU boards and are ready to hit the water! CFF will be the benefitting charity for the race series again next year. Until next summer, GUSU has also designed a super cool line of hats that you can take home and support an amazing cause with the proceeds going to CFF. This years’ race series was a huge success in great part to the phenomenal locations. A big thanks to The Crab Trap, Legendary Marina, Henderson Beach State Park and John Farris, the fleet Captain of Fort Walton Beach Yacht Club who all contributed to the amazing outcome this year!
This is a unique race series where participants of all ages and experience levels can come together and compete while having fun. In addition to a 1-mile beginner, 3-mile recreational, and a 6-mile elite there was also a children and Special Olympics Athletes category at each race. This was free to enter and GUSU donated the boards and gave free t-shirts to the Special Olympics athletes and children of all ages. Michael Stone, the Director of Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties at Special Olympics Florida expressed his gratitude for providing a truly memorable experience where each participant went home a winner. GUSU is a fun-loving company with a big heart who gives back to many local charities. The race series wouldn’t be possible without the generous sponsors and volunteers, so cheers to those who love to “Get Up Stand Up” for a great cause!
